How can a horse be “straight” on a circle?

Thank you so much for making so much information available to us.
I am just beginning to work with my horse in a “formal” way — to develop her self-carriage and her topline.
But I don’t understand “straightness” at all, I think.
How can a horse be “straight” on a circle?
